Weeto, do not apologise. You have done nothing wrong. It's just rather unfortunate that there are some extremely narrow-minded people on the net
    who
just do not want to discuss anything outside of their core discussions, or simply do not want to expand their minds.

We like to expand our minds on what our machine can do!

Check this site out & tell us that:

These people should learn to simply ignore the threads if it does not
    interest
them, instead of continually dragging them down by posting complaints.

These are very sentensive questions Weetomuncher has asked & if (s)he
doesn't make them clear then complaints will be the answer (it's very hard
to ignore when it's of some concern).

No hard feelings I guess Weetomuncher! ;-)
    Cheers.

I'm surprised that css's resident HTML standards Nazis haven't
    complained yet:

    <mode=TimBL>
Language should be defined in the document tag, i.e. <html lang=en>
Changing font weight on mouseover (actually, it's done on hover) changes
the actual size of each glyph, therefore rendering the visitor seasick
    as the subsequent lines move
One shouldn't use <i> tags, one should use <em> and let the visitor's
browser decide how the emphasis is applied
Using empty paragraphs for formatting the page is deprecated; use
    cascading style sheets instead
An <i> tag is opened near the bottom of the page, and is never closed
A </b> tag appears at the bottom of the page, but was never opened
While CPC is, indeed, an abbreviation, CPCs should be spelt CPCs not CPC's.

It's a good job most web browsers are designed with displaying b0rked
    HTML in mind :-)[0]
    </mode>

Apologies for the rant, but having worked as a web designer for a
.gov.uk department one has to work with absolutely flawless, standards-compliant HTML[1] and these things create an Asperger's-like response in me.

[0]Mainly because my own web site isn't much more standards-friendly at
    the moment...
[1]Well, that's the theory anyway; most of the other .gov.uk depts whose websites I've viewed obviously didn't receive the same memo as me, which
will cause them minor headaches in October... :-/

How are the questions sensitive? Asking if PC's have made computing dull would hardly be considered sensitive, or offensive!

So, I suppose the following post by Weetomuncher on July 6 wasn't
    offensive to anyone?

"I'm not saying C64 users were thick but their machine was the only
    one
ever redesigned with an 'ANY' key as many Commode users were confused
when asked to press any key.

Also, I can't really understand why the C64 has
numbers above 3 on the keyboard as they are wasted on Commies!

At least they made the machine SLLLOOOWWW to match their user base!"

I dunno - if I was a commie, I would take it to be offensive...

PCs could include Amstrads as well. They just haven't made it clear enough.

If this question is directed towards IBM users or Mac users, then why don't they have a look in? While what I'm about to suggest is off-topic for any of these groups, I know that it really depends on what perspective of IBM or
    Mac computing your looking at.

    Cheers,
    Ross.

I'm sorry if i've been posting stuff that has caused people to be
    annoyed on these newsgroups.

I'm fairly new to newsgroups and I didn't realise that people got
annoyed by new threads starting as I thought it would be a good way of
starting new topics of discussion as many of the newsgroups are often
a little bit slow at times (especially when it comes to talking about
classic games, which is why I'm still interested in 8 bit machines!)

It isn't true that I don't ever reply to my threads but I often feel
that I've said enough at the beginning of the thread.

Apart from a few bad C64 jokes I haven't really been involved in major
flame wars so I'll leave off this.

I'm genuinly interested in 8 bit machines in general and I like to
discuss the modern computing environment with 8 bit veterans like
myself and I feel that threads that compare the modern era to the past
    ARE relevent in these groups.
