I got a 1581 off Ebay and it came along with a strange Commodore brand
cable. On one end it has a standard CBM 6-pin (male) serial. But on
the other end it has a 23-pin (female) fake plastic chrome enclosure.
Both ends have the CBM logo. The cable is gray and has no other
    markings.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Sounds like an amiga video to 1084 monitor cable.

Were there ever cables for connecting C64/C128
drives to AMIGA computers? How many pins
does the AMIGA port for the disk drive have?

It could just be an Amiga video cable, that someone mashed the DIN end of
    into the back of a 1581. .

The disk drive port on an amiga requires a 23 pin male cable while the video requires a 23 pin female cable. There is only one port on the amiga
that accepts a 23 pin female cable. I know there is a few different styles
of c64 emulators for the Amiga that may have cabling to hook up a 1541 to
    an
amiga but im not sure as I dont personally own any of these cool devices yet.I have seen them on ebay though.
