I can use it as a memory card reader in OS 9, but not OS X 10.2.5. Any
way to get it working? The HP software calls it a "print-only driver",
which seems a pretty rude waste of my money for the card reader.

I have the HP7550 printer. In order to download to OSX, I can press
the save button on the printer. The HP software takes over from there
by opening a download window in the OSX finder.

But is there any way to access cards as normal volumes, the way you can
in OS 9 and Windows with the 7350/7550 printers?

I could find no other way to access cards except as I described. HP
support has no solution,as far as I know. The HP driver for the 7550
is extremely slow. The HP support site says it knows about the problem
and is working on it (that message has been posted at least since last Christmas when I bought my 7550).
