• Windows on Intel Mac question/annoyance (PrintScreen)

I installed Windows on my iMac last week, via BootCamp. There were no
problems at all, aside from the tedium. But yesterday, I ran into a
problem that googling hasn't helped me with: Windows keyboards have a PrintScreen button that invokes a screen/window capture utility.
Obviously, my iMac has no PrintScreen button, but there must be some Function-key combination that will do this. Flailing around (i.e.,
trying all the F-keys, alone, or in combination with option/alt,
control, and/or splat) didn't do anything but close some windows.

    Any ideas?

If you've got the standard Apple keyboard, which I don't have in front
of me right now, look at the cursor key (inverted T) area. There are 9
keys above the cursor keys, arranged in a group of three and a group of
    six:

    A B C
    (space)
    D E F
    G H I

PrtSc should be on the key in position 'A'. Press alt-PrtSc to copy
    window contents to clipboard.

This is the F14 key. All it did was dim the screen somewhat; fortunately
    F15 brightened it back up.

Get a free (careful on windows) screen grabbing utility. I suggest
Irfanview as it also does read your Jpeg 2000 etc files you created on
    your OS X.

    http://www.irfanview.net

That is the only "clean" tool I remember from my windows days and it is free/donationware.

I wonder what would happen if you plugged a Windows keyboard in instead?
or perhaps even in addition to the mac keyboard, and have two keyboards :)
I'd try this myself, but I don't think I've got any USB Windows
keyboards. Come to think of it - does such a thing exist or are they all
ps/2 connector keyboards? I don't remember ever seeing a USB Windows
    keyboard

There definitely are USB Windows keyboards, and I even think there's a
spare lying around. That's certainly something to try. (But the thought
of switching keyboards depending whether I need screen captures or to
eject CDs is a bit disconcerting, I have to say!)

Found I did have a USB windows keyboard. The iMac worked fined with both keyboards plugged in simultaneously.
