    Nah... Catalina definitely does not require alternatives since all of
    those run fine.

    However, there are definitely better alternatives than the titles you
    chose).

    Audacity runs fine in macOS 10.15 (Catalina): <https://www.audacityteam.org/download/mac/>

    Here it is running in Catalina on my Mac Pro:
    <https://imgur.com/rqikc0J>

    But there are definitely alternative audio editors available, some
    better than others. Personally, my favorite go-to audio editor for
    macOS is Mac-native app, Amadeus Pro:
    <https://hairersoft.com/pro.html>

    ---

    FileZilla also runs fine in macOS 10.15: <https://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client#close>

    Here it is running in Catalina on my Mac Pro:
    <https://imgur.com/TKFizuB>

    But true Mac native apps like Fetch or Transmit are much better options: <https://fetchsoftworks.com>
    <https://www.panic.com/transmit/>

    ---

    Greenshot is nowhere near as good as the built-in native macOS screenshot/screen recording facility: <https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/take-a-screenshot-or-screen-recording-mh26782/mac>
    <https://support.apple.com/HT201361>

    And for annotating screenshots, the built-in native Preview app's Markup
    tools do everything Greenshot does and more: <https://support.apple.com/guide/preview/annotate-an-image-prvw1501/mac>

    Can't speak for the others as I've never used them, but VirtualBox works perfectly fine on Catalina. I use it every day to run Solaris VMs at work.

    Oops - missed a couple...

    Picassa / GIMP:

    The built-in Photos app will manage/organize photos, and has basic photo editing tools built-in as well:
    <https://www.apple.com/macos/photos/>
    There are alternative photo/image editors that are arguably better as

    <https://www.pixelmator.com/pro/>

    VirtualBox runs fine in macOS 10.15 too: <https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads>
    There are *much* better alternatives though, like VMware Fusion and
    Parallels Desktop:

    This is what is known as a lie.

    Audacity runs just fine. Thousands of podcasters use it every day.

    filezilla- ftp

    Runs, but is shit compared to many other ftp programs. But then again,
    ftp is also shit.

    picasa , gimp is to cluttered

    Google abandonware. Also, no reason to use it on a Mac ever.

    virtual box, needto run windows for work

    Virtualbox works fine on Catalina.

    freefile synch

    Never heard of this. If you mean FreFileSync it works just fine in
    Catalina and Big Sur.

    greenshot- something similar to snippy tool, fast stone caputre , (annotation highlights), scrolling

    All in macOS built-in scree capture utility, but Greenshot does work in Catalina. And in Big Sur.

    Also, appears to be adandonware as well which makes sense because it
    doesn't do anything that the built in tools do not do.

    The official website also says Virtual Box works in Catalina (as long
    as you have the newer 64bit version of course, not an old 32bit one).
    Some people are having problems, which might be fixed with a Terminal
    command, but whether that's an actual Catalina problem or just a "user
    error" is a different question.

    One alternative isVMWare Fusion Player which is free for personal use,
    so it may depend on what the original poster's "for work" means. You do
    need to register for a free MyVMWare account. <https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/evalcenter?p=fusion-player-personal>
    For most users there's no difference between the free Player version
    and the full Fusion commercial product.

    Commander Kinsey can not help but grasp everyone knows he is just trolling!
    So what is Commander Kinsey's poison for the flooding nonsense? AppleScript? That is the only tool he knows, or admits to. He must be programming it
    to create these annoying "flooding" idiotic threads. My idea, Commander
    Kinsey took the chatbot that he pirated and took credit for... he's feeding
    it Google Groups data, grabbing offensive paragraphs, then scrambling those using the Viterbi algorithm and then he actively posts them because his insomnia enables him to do that practically constantly.

    Wolffan just wiped the floor with Commander Kinsey.

    How Commander Kinsey decides when to use his absurd flood script to best emulate the style of Wolffan's posts http://usenet.sandman.net/misc/snit_flood.
    I'm about to KF him, myself. Like all idiots, he is perpetually looking
    for some way to blame, no matter how laughable the accusation. I will not
    see his response to this post. He is hurting, wants to protect what is left
    of his honor, and will attack. Most likely starting with a snobbish "<crickets>",
    as if what I have written is SO off base. That BADish "strategy" was him
    going too far, for me.

    That's what Commander Kinsey does when he gets upset. He immediately creates
    a sock, starts a thread so he can claim it was an accident. Hey it was my
    left hand... and then he replies to his own post with his right hand.

    What were you hoping for? Gregory Hall has yet to show how OS X does anything above the lowest common denominator on Linux. What is your evidence?

    Who does NOT know that this kind of nonsense is Gregory Hall's MO, not
    the modus operandi of Dustin? It is all just projection... the endless posting,
    the sock puppets, the writing of drivel, the tantrums... the panties in
    a twist and tendency to show how distressed he is over being booted from
    the schoolyard for shitting in it again.

    Gregory Hall is far too ignorant to write a OS X script. The only scripting he's able to do is flooding groups.
