• Entourage Rules Not Working

At least some of them. For example, my very first rule is entited "John
Doe." It reads "If from contains 'John Doe'" (then) "Move message" (to mailbox) "'John Doe' (On My Computer.)"

It doesn't work. If I select the message and manually select "Apply
Rules" -- "All Rules" it /still/ doesn't work. Remember it's the first
rule on the list, so no other rule is hitting it before the desired
rule. If I select the message and manually select "Apply Rules" --
    "John Doe" it works.

The rule /is/ enabled. With only one criterion in the rule, it doesn't
matter whether "Execute" is set to "any criteria" or "all criteria" --
    it still doesn't work.

There are a few other rules further down the list that fail to work. I
can't name a date when this began, but I have an elaborate rule system
because I'm a webmaster and I get a lot of e-mail on a dozen or more
accounts. The rules used to work perfectly.

    Huh!?

    Thanks!

I just wonder if "If all criteria are met" is selected. That is the default setting, and it's stupid.

It needs to be set to "If any criteria are met".

    But I wrote:

Think about it. You are correct that /all/ /criteria/ would cause rules
to fail if they had multiple criteria and if they were not carefully
    crafted.

If, however, a rule contained only one criterion it would not fail on
that account because /any/ and /all/ would be identical. I know this
    from experience.

Additionally, I have a few rules with multiple criteria where I require
all criteria to be met -- and those rules work as intended.

    You're right, I missed that.

Only thing I can think of, Entourage rules run stringwise, and whitespaces
ARE obeyed. If you have a blank character after a string in the field, it
won't recognize a spaceless string. This can be confusing, but also allows
you to delimit a string with spaces. For example, the word "iCal" will match the word "technical", but " iCal" will not.

Other than that, I don't know. I used Entourage for 5 years and I'm quitting
    it because it's so stupid.
