• HP Printers stopped working again??

Did HP and Apple screw up printing again??

My HP printer has decided to suddenly stop working again today. This
time print jobs simply go on hold with a "waiting for printer to become available" message in the print queue window.

I hard reset the printer, reset the Printer Preferences, deleted and
re-added the printer, created a new user account, ... nothing worked.
    :o(

Scanning worked fine, "photocopying" on the printer itself worked fine,
but printing from the Mac didn't work.

Finally deleted and reinstalled all the drivers and it is now working
    again (for how long??).

Could be time to ditch HP and their flakey inkjet printers.

My 25 year old printer recently died. An old DEClaser 5100 (LN09) circa
1995. Essentially HP hardware, but Digital firmwared with real postscript.
I created a PPD for it in the 1990s when I got it.

Replaced it with a Canon Postscript printer. I did not install ANY
driver for it. I pulled the PPD from Canon'd web site, put in in right
place and then updated the print queue to ise IPP instead of direct
printing and used the new PPD. (did similar on my server, but using CUPS
    web interface)

The beauty of this is that you don't need a printer driver, so your
printer keeps on working through any/all software updates, and in my
case moving the server from VMS to OS-X Snow Leopard, desktop from Power
PC Mac Classic to PowerPC OS-X (G3), to Mac Pro 2009 to Mac Pro 2013.

HP has been fucking up printing for nearly two decades. The last good HP printer I used was an 4MP, and that was 25 years ago. 600dpi, 4ppm and
built like a tank. It worked right up through 2010, though I did upgrade
the RAM on it (to either 8 or maybe 16MB).

Finally deleted and reinstalled all the drivers and it is now working
    again (for how long??).

Well, that tells you were the problems were, doesn't it?

Buy a Brother, they actually support their printers and don't write shit drivers.

Could be time to ditch HP and their flakey inkjet printers.

    That time has long passed.

Yes it was time many years ago to ditch hp in all respects.

After RonB's update I no longer want to gouge out my eyeballs from the
flicker of the screen. By getting an education from 'social warriors'
like that you get concepts like 'liberalism'. Carried to its (il)logical resolution, the push that it's 'bigoted' for a hetero male to not wish
to identify as a dead body is born.

Seriously, those of you who troll are not able to manage RonB anymore.
Hint: You won't go into a party, gulp down all the moonshine, bang all
the dogs, take the souvenirs, and upchuck in the bathroom without being treated with contempt.

This forum is a septic tank.

It was Owl who got caught using tons of puppets over and over, and these
are 'people' who come literally out of the blue immediately into threads
where he was getting his ass handed to him... by RonB for over a decade.

Those things were scattered all through the company I worked at up to
2000. Simple, reliable, crisp output. Company must have had 100 of
    these things at least.

    Crap co. now.

He is as incompetent as Graeme 'The Shill' Wall. Graeme 'The Shill' Wall
can't get anything else to work, either. Graeme 'The Shill' Wall expects people to believe that a poster such as Mr. Brooks who he has regularly declared
to be a perjurer is someone to 'trust'? How can he assume people are THAT stupid?

Ending support for JavaScript is needed for progress. Graeme 'The Shill' Wall-like advocates are still talking about the Linux "ecosystem" as if something
like that even potentially is a goal of the community. HA! Gee, imagine Graeme 'The Shill' Wall trying to pin his nonsense on others, no one has ever seen that before <eyeroll>.

Why does Graham J focus on Gremlin's ego so much?

If Graham J calls getting shoved into kill filters left and right for
years on end by Gremlin and me (and completely trashing his name and any reason for me to believe anything he has to say - for the rest of time) 'trolling', then yeah... he is a good troll. I can't accept that view,
I use another term. I call that person a complete lamer. You never take
blame for your own words. Quotes that are easily quoted and pointed out.
