After upgrading a PowerMac G4 733 Mhz [gigabit] to
OS X 10.2.6 and OS 9.2.2, Apple DVD Player no longer
works when booted into OS 9. When I tried v2.4 I get
an error message that says the video card (GeForce 2)
is incompatible and when I try v2.7 I get an error
message that says some software is missing. I did
pursue that message and found out the remedy is to
install OS 9.1 update, which of course won't work on
top of the already installed OS 9.2.2.

The fine print at Apple indicates that v2.4 and v2.7
will not work on the G4 PCI series, even though the
computer in question has an AGP slot as well as PCI
slots. Version 3.2 of Apple DVD Player works just
    fine under OS X 10.2.6.

Anyone else have this experience, or am I missing
    something?

    Try turning on virtual memory.

This may be a silly question, but why bother using
OS 9 if you have OS X? You can watch DVDs in OS X
    just fine.

    I don't think that's a silly question.

As we transition to OS X, we have certain staff
members who like to revert back to their comfort
    zone (OS 9) at times.

Perhaps because Os 9 is a less buggy, more intuitive, more complete
operating system with a much faster Finder and much wider peripheral compatibility. Hopefully it won't always be so.
