    Yes, but that group is appropriate, while this one is for Mac OS
    discussions.

    Which is why I let that one sit for a week to see if I got any
    responses. The only suggestion I got was to check xlr8yourmac.com,
    which I had done. Since no more responses seemed forthcoming, I thought
    I'd try here. And, I might point out, that the word "system" in c.s.m.a
    could imply a hardware system (as in group of components) just as easily
    as software, and given the number of harware posts I've seen here, I
    think that interpretation is quite valid.

    I have the 233mhz 604e version. I too have been unable to get my hands on the manual for it.
    I never noticed any dip switches on mine but I never really looked closely at the card. I bought it used from someone who had it in an 8600. It's been in my 8500, essentially the same as an 8600, for a while and works fine.
    Have you tried yours in the 7500 yet?

    Ron,

    I have, and it seems to work well in Mac OS 8.6 with the switches set in
    the positions they were when I acquired it (not too surprising, since it
    was removed from a 7500). However, running under YellowDog Linux 3.0,
    the machine is extremely unstable -- often spontaneously rebooting after
    only 10 minutes or so. It seems better with the cache card removed.

    I suppose that I could determine what the settings mean by trial and
    error, but I would prefer to not have to do so, if for no other reason
    than minimising the risk of damage....
