I have a G4 running System 9.1
I have always had 2 printers on my desktop, a Samsung ML-1210 and an HP Deskjet 952C and
alternate between them depending upon my needs. I usually have the
Samsung printer "chosen".
I recently installed a second HD and have been dragging the contents of
my main HD to it. When I
do this I get this message:
"Folder "Desktop" contains desktop printers that cannot be moved. One
or more desktop printers
have jobs in the queue, are inactive or cannot be moved off the startup
disk. Do you wish to continue
copying the other files?"
I hit "continue" and after which the files are copied to the 2nd disk
but the icon for the HP Deskjet
952C disappears from my desktop. I used the HP installation CD to
reinstall and the HP Deskjet
952C icon reappeared and printed fine.
Today however after I dragged the contents of my main HD to the
secondary HD the the HP Deskjet
952C icon vanished. I selected it in the Chooser and tried to print but
got:
"The file "Desktop" will be moved to the trash because no desktop
printer exists for this spool file"
When I used the HP installation CD to reinstall it I got this message:
"No installation was necessary. The files to be installed are already
on your disk or are not needed for
your hardware setup".
Also, when I use the HP Deskjet utility to print a test page it works
fine!
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sy
