• iPod problem(?)

This is my first experience with this new technology and would be grateful
if somoene could explain what the folloing is about.
I've got an iPod Video 30 g a momnth ago, I've downloaded some audio
podcasts but other than that I've hardly used it.
Now, on the display, the bar time has changed into some small circles/dots, and I am wandering why this could have happened. Is it a fault or just a feature that can be changed and if so, how?

Forgive my ignorance and please help me if you have the time.

    Many thanks in advance.

sounds like you have accidently switched it to "favorites" use the
middle button to take it back to normal. You can reboot it by holding
menu and play together for several seconds.

Are there five of them in total? If so I believe you've accessed the
'rating' feature. You get there by pressing the middle button while a song
    is being played/paused.
