for the past few years ive used pc's due to price and a few other

G4 733 (Digital audio not crummy quicksilver )
with 1gb of ram will be good for OSX. and fast under osx... its
supposed to come with 10.3
Will it work? Yes. Will it be fast by modern standards? It'll be usable,
but no speed demon.
How much are you paying for it? I've found that older computers in
general often sel for far, far more than they're worth. If you're
planning to buy this machine for more than $150 or so, you might want to consider getting, say, a new or refurbished Mac Mini instead; you'll get
a whole lot more performance for your buck, assuming you have no
compelling need for any PCI devices.
second question is it doesnt come with the os cd so if i pay and
upgrade it to 10.4 or 10.5 will i just use the 10.4 or 10.5 cd to
reinstall ... if necessary?
I have a rigid, non-negotiable policy when buying used Macs: I never,
ever, *ever* buy any Mac that does not come with the original CDs. Never.
Buying a Mac without the CDs will screw you eventually. For one, buying
OS X retail will *not* give you Classic; if you ever need to reinstall Classic, you can't. For another, you will not have the Apple Hardware
Test CD.
I once had a client replace a bunch of G4 systems with G5 systems. They offered to give me one of the old G4 systems for free. I refused to
accept it until they found the original CDs.
Seriously. Don't accept the computer without the original CDs. Sooner or later, you will regret it; it's just a matter of time.
