what a chuckle, do you know how difficult it is to search for 'book'
    topic on macbook?

Well I'm a first time owner of a Mac product, macbook intel, Ipods are computers, and slightly above average computer user in general. I'm
looking for a good book on using those fun things in computer systems
such scripting perl and other scripting languages, and so forth on Mac
OS. I'd like to do things like troubleshoot network problems on the
command line level {in unix and M$ normal tcp/ip utilities}, program in
perl and other scripting languages, setup a web server ?apache. You
    know.

    Thanks ahead of time

For the tasks you list, you're looking for a book on "advanced" or
"technical" uses of Mac OS X Tiger -- almost nothing is going to be
specific to either it being a laptop or Intel-based. Look for
Mac-oriented material on the tasks rather than on the particular
    hardware.

    O'reilly <http://oreillynet.com/> have been a consistently excellent
souce of articles and books about the Mac, mostly intermediate to
advanced. I see they already have an article about Boot Camp, which was announced for Intel Macs only a week ago. Also check their MacDevCenter
at <http://www.macdevcenter.com/>. Finally, check their "Safari
    Bookshelf" at <http://safari.oreilly.com/>.

Good luck and welcome to Macintosh!

    Some suggestion are :

"Mac OS X Tiger Unleashed" by John Ray and Wiliam G. Ray $49.99

"Mac OS X Help Line, Tiger Edition" by by Ted Landau and Dan Franks
    $49.99

"A Practical Guide to Unix for Mac OS X Users" by Mark G. Sobell and
    Peter Seebach $39.99

Hopefully you live near a Borders bookstore so you can review these
    books before committing funds.
