• Trashcan on NFS mounted home directories

We are running 10.2.6 with NIS authenication and home directories NFS
    mounted
    from a Solaris server.

We have a strnge problem that the trashcan does not work on the NFS mounted file system. In the home directory dragging to trash fails completely
    with an
error and in other directories we get a warning that the deletion will occur immediately and not put the item in the trash can.

Does anyone know what is going on or where I could read up on how the
    trash can
should be working in this environment?

Remote trash cans do not work in OS X. It doesn't matter whether it's
    NFS, SMB, or AFP.
