    Hello all,

My wife bought a G3 ibook in 2002 and it did her well, I even ran over
it on my bike on accident and it kept plugging away. The logic board
did go bad on it and was replaced under warranty but now it has a new
problem. The iBook won't turn on but strangely when you open it up,
there is a faint electrical smell. The smell simply happens from
opening the laptop and before any attempt at powering up happens. I've
had a tech say it could be the motherboard and possibly the power
inverter. What could cause it to have a faint electrical smell by the
act of just opening the top?

    Jason

That's the magic smoke you let out. It won't work until you put it all
    back!
Opening the top just releases the odor from whence it came.
