    I believe that is the case.

    OS 9 can only deal with USB 1. I think you can use a USB 2 card but
    the best you can get is USB 1 out of it.

    Or so I was led to believe...

    10.2.7 was when high speed USB was first supported on a Mac. That may
    have been only on G5s though.
