• "no available window"

New hardware (MacBook Pro early 2013), new system (OS 11.2.3), new problem.

All too often, when I try to launch something, it fails because of no available window. I've looked around, read help files, etc., but haven't found what controls the number of windows so that I can increase the number. Help?

    Launch what?

I have never seen this message. Was the 2013 MBP updated from a pervious
OS or was 11 installed freshly?

There were some very old configurations that limited the number of open
files, but I would not expect to see hose on a machine newer than
    around 2006.

Can you site the complete message and/or provide a screen snap? I've
never heard the like of it.
