• HELP: random freezes in Office 98

    Hello,

I have been having a periodic, yet annoying problem with random freezes
and crashes in Office 98. These are primarily in Excel, and (less often)
with Word. In Excel, the cursor will freeze (usually) or disappear. In
word, I will crash into Macsbug (usually with a "PPC exception" error).
When I reboot and look in the "Items Rescued from Macintosh HD" folder in
the Trash (usually after an Excel freeze), I see files with names that are
a long string of letters. I take it that these are memory related. Occasionally, I will get an Office workfile or a file called "drag."

My rig is a PM 7200/90 upgraded with a Sonnet Crescendo G3 card, & 96 megs
of RAM. I have also installed most of the Office 98 patches (security
updates, etc.) from MS's website. Any help in getting rid of these
problems and improving stability would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Russ Dumke
