• Sluggish Mail.app behavior

Starting, perhaps by coincidence, a couple of days ago when I installed
the newest Java on my system, Mail.app has done the following
    undesirable behaviors:

    1) While it used to be almost 100% accurate in detecting Junk mail and
putting in the Junk folder, it is now allowing some junk mail in to my
    In Box.

    2) Then, when a junk email is in my In Box and I click on the Junk icon
to have it label the email and junk and to whisk it away to the junk
folder, it takes about a full minute to do that, whereas before a
couple of days ago it would take only a few seconds to do this task.

    3) When I quit Mail.app it is now taking an inordinate amount of time
to go through its tasks on quitting.

In short, a lot more spinning beach ball.

Any ideas for remedying this situation would be appreciated.

First, try rebuilding all your mailboxes.

Second, if you have a ton of mail in your primary inbox, move it to a
    secondary mail folder.

OR, you could reverse that order... It's probably one or the other.
