If I hit the sleep command _immediately_ after start-up, it works.
But very soon after startup, if I hit "sleep", the screen first goes dark and the disk seems to start spinning down, but then everything starts up again.
What do you mean by "hit sleep"? If this involves the mouse, it may be that you are moving the mouse just after choosing the Sleep menu item (
or whatever you are doing). This can wake the computer back up. m.
I've also found that if I put my dual 533 to sleep and then turn off my printer it comes right out of sleep. Bouncing the mouse will do it too. This is all normal. My computer sleeps very well thankyou.
Thats just my .o2

By "hit sleep" , I mean "select and execute" (or "invoke") the "sleep" command. I do this by using the mouse to select "sleep" from the Apple
Menu.
Yes, I do understand that moving the mouse after executing this command
will wake the system from sleep. I'm not doing that, not in the
slightest. The system still wakes up immediately.
I was hoping someone might have a strategy for identifying a background process that is running constantly and interrupting sleep. Process
Viewer might be more helpful if I could view the order in which
processes were launched (to isolate some 3rd party application process
that starts running shortly after boot-up).
