But.. I've had people seeking out my shop for the privilege to
charge their tablets, phones or ereaders. There were a handful
of times when people would come crying to my shop and swearing
OFF at ereaders henceforth because they forgot the dedicated
cables.
That's why I like my Kobo. I've had it for several years and it still holds a charge for weeks or months at a time (depending how often I use
it) AND I can use a standard micro USB cable to charge it.
My Kobo (1st gen) charge lasts a very long time in storage -
for months actually. I've only started using it more just
about last year (after having the device sitting unused since
2012) when a fellow echomail user posted their status as an
author. Now, yet again another author steered me to the world
of RPG-style LIT with "The Wandering Inn". With that, I'm
finding that the eReader is ideal for most of this material.
Meanwhile, I've rekindled my interest to check out some
classics from Gutenberg Press and compare them to printed
versions which are often better translations.
I hate it when things have a proprietary cable/charger now-
a-days. I'm really looking forward to our all USB-C
future.
USB sizes changed because devices were getting smaller. USB-x
looks like a horrendous catalog of many sizes and types.
