First off, pretty much any mid-grade or higher system
built in the last 5-8 years is more than sufficient, and
*might* do well with a ram (or SSD) upgrade alone.
This is exactly what I did with my Mom's laptop. Her
laptop is now 7 years old and was running Win 7 with a
500GB spinning hard drive and 4GB of RAM.
A bump up to 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD (and a new battery)
& she's super impressed with how fast her laptop is.
