I've been doing a lot of collaboration with remote peers
lately, and for the first time the web version of Excel is
easier to use than Excel 2016. Until now, there's been a
feature missing from the online version, or something is
easier with the desktop version.
Is the O365 web version of Excel much more different than the
experience of using Google Sheets?
I would not stand to use Sheets on a regular basis. Too much
lag even with a modest DSL connection.
I went to Microsoft's Ignite conference this year online,
and they sent me a coupon code for $5 off on their digital
store, and O365 family edition for $20/year. I may have to
stock up - 5 licenses of Microsoft 365, Office 2016, 6TB of
disk space in a pool and outlook.com support for desktop
outlook. I think they include Skype minutes, too.
Sounds like a practical solution if collaborating documents, a
lot. But for an individual who needs work on a spreadsheet
independently, I see the local version is superior. I
wouldn't want my work to be affected with the internet
connection decides to quit.
