On deeply held beliefs

A funny phenomenon I keep experiencing, or maybe always experienced but now notice more as I get older and more perceptive of others.
Those who says they are "not religious" can be the most religious of all.
How so? a religion stands on deeply held beliefs, and practices that exercise or demonstrate or hone those beliefs.
I have met more atheistic people who will argue for their beliefs, try to convince others, do things to make the statement "there is no god" and otherwise practice religious atheism, while saying they follow no religion. Meanwhile, people of theistic faiths do practice them, but not so blatantly. Interestingly, people of theistic faiths seem to enjoy living a more quiet life. The caricature of the Bible thumper, or jihadist, etc., is just that... a
caricature.
There are so many things that I would call "religions" before I would call Islam, Christianity, Judaism a "religion." Environmentalism. LGBTQ activism. Being a member of a political party. People are fiercely tribalistic here. Catholics? Not so much. Big churches, yes; but they mostly want to listen to the
Pope and have a quiet life living according to the morals of their faith.
I would share my beliefs with anyone who was interested. I wouldn't be pushy and judgmental. To do so would mean my beliefs are not interesting or valid enough for someone to accept without emotional pressure.
