Hello MATT!
Sunday August 28 2022 17:20, you wrote to me:
You should expect charges to go up to pay for the extra elec
costs if you are in Europe.
Im in California where its rather dysfunctional. We are trying to
become zero carbon and its not exactly working well. Im trying to
think of solutions such as turning off my PS5 instead of putting it to
slep.
But it cannot be as bad as the UK;
1 kw of electricity is now charged at not less than 0.40 pound ($0.45 US dollar) and in October it is going up to 0.80 plus ($1.00) with a standing charge of 0.47 per day.
Cost of gas for central heating boilers etc has gone from 0.02 beginning of the
year to currently 0.15p with a standard change of 30 pounds ($35) or more per month and that (per Kw) is due to double by October.
Car fuel petrol / gas etc is now 1.90 and if you have a Diesel engine it is close to 2.00 ($2.50) a Litre.
Here is figures from a website :
United Kingdom Gasoline prices
Litre Gallon
GBP 1.711 6.477
USD 2.013 7.620
EUR 2.025 7.665
These prices are due to fall but have not seen it yet.
Based on a US. Gallon and a UK Gallon is a third bigger (8 pints at a weight of
7.5 pounds against a US gallon of 6 pounds in weight.
For Avgas (for light airplanes) local airfield is charging :
1.80 - 2.20 pounds per litre.
So hiring a club aircraft is now up to 220 pounds per hour (with instructor). IT get for example a PPL it is over 9,000 pounds assuming 45 hours training.
It is getting expensive to live in the UK !
And you think the USA has problems :)
