Dollar Tree stores carry alkaline 9V batteries for $1 a piece.
I think we have a Dollar Tree here, but on the other side of town.
Several years ago I was in a Dollar Tree in another town. A woman in
front of me at check out had a cart load of things.
She would pick up an item and asked the clerk how much.
$1.
She picked up something else and asked the price.
$1
This went on for several items and the clerk finally said, "Ma'am,
everything in the store is one dollar". :)
I admit to shopping Dollar Tree a lot as they have many of the basics I need.
I do a lot of shopping at Dollar General for basics.
People talk about how cheap things are a big blue box store but they
aren't. DG has them beat on just about everything.
My mom taught me to shop around for good deals so when I go shopping, I usually will go to four or five stores to get what I want.
I know which stores have the best prices on various items and the best selection.
For general daily items Aldi is best for food.
Sav-a-lot for meat.
DG for general household items.
I very seldom buy name brand items. About 98 per cent of my items are
store brand which is just as good as name brand.
I worked once with a woman who had worked for Kellogg in Battle Creek,
MI.
She said from 0800 to midnight Kellogg corn flakes came off the line.
From midnight to 8 it was a store brand.
Same food item, same process, just put in different boxes.
