Old Yeller was a dog on a farm.

"Call of the Wild" was the domesticated dog who was turned into a sled dog, and then went wild.
"White Fang" was the wild wolf/dog that was domesticated.

It was a Jack London novel. I'm not sure if I want to try Old Yeller being as I
know it has a sad ending. . . (the guy ends up shooting his beloved companion, to
put him out of misery?)
