    That page is out of date. I tried both Proton and Mail.com earlier
    today. Both now require a phone number. I want no part of Google or
    Yahoo.

    You did not try properly. You can register anonymously at proton via tor, without providing an email address. I used your name with an anon prefix
    and it works.
