I'm trying to set up a system (just for grits & shiggles) running good
ol' DOS and WFW 3.11. Well, one of the things I want o install is MSIE
4.01 or 5.0. The machine has half a gig of RAM and the MSIE installer
can't quite figure it out and tells me that I really should get more
than 4 MB of RAM for it to do it's thing.
I did this same thing a couple of years ago on a machine with 256 MB RAM
and someone was kind enough to give me a command line switch to use when
I was installing MSIE.
I didn't write the switch down and neither Google nor the MS site could provide me with anything useful.
Does anyone out there know of this command line switch that will allow
MSIE 4.01 or 5.0 to install on machines with more RAM than MSIE knows
what to do with?
TIA
Ed
if you are using the 16bit version of IE5 there is a bug in the installer
if you use large amounts of ram
use the option setup /f:16 and it should work
