• Formatting IIgs floppies on a mac

Okay. I need to create bootable 3.5" prodos diskettes for my IIgs. I
have a Macintosh Performa 6116 with macOS 7.5.1. In the "Erase Disk"
dialog, there is an option to format as an 800k ProDOS disk, but when
I do that and try to boot my II with it it comes up with "Unable to
load prodos". Any ideas as to what may be the problem? Also, on a side
note, what format does DiskDup+ use, and how can I use it to create
    IIgs disks?

Ian, while you seem to be successful in formatting the disk, you then need
to copy a woking copy of Prodos TO that disk (and Basic system or some other system file..)

    Hi Ian,

DiskDup+ is similar to Disk Copy 4.2 and 6.3.3. I basically uses
the same images as Disk Copy. Simply load an image, it will mount
then insert a blank disk and it will write the contents of the image
to the disk. VOILA! ProDOS disk bootable in your IIgs. The problem
with this is, there are not as many disks in this format as there are in
other formats, but once you have a good copy of GS/OS to copy to
copy to your hard drive (IIgs) or load, then you can get ShrinkIt and/or DSK2FILE and make other disks right on the IIgs. If HFS.FST is installed
on the boot disk of the IIgs then HFS (Mac) formatted disks can be read/ written on the IIgs. It's a snap, just takes some time to get used to it.
    ;-)
