    Hello, there,
I hope somebody writes a report of the KFest that is happening
in Kansas City, Missouri right now. Also posted photos would be
    great.

Not able to go to it,

Not much to report so far. Mostly folks trickling in. Woz arrived real
late last night and ended up trailing a mob of KFest geeks around. He's a
nice guy, but shorter than I'd pictured him. B-{)

I'll steal Dave's thunder and point you to his site where he's posting pictures...

Got my 3 hours of sleep last night, so I'm good to go.... B-{)

We have someone from Call-A.P.P.L.E. on site. He is going to write an article for the August issue. We have a couple of announcements this
weekend too. Should be good. ;-)

    Later
    Mike

What exactly is KFest now? I know it used to be bigger and better,
etc., but what is it all about the last few years? I don't see many
Apple II's in all those pictures, but plenty of people with Macintosh notebooks. Maybe they are runnning emulators. :-) Any guesstimate on
% Apple II / % Macintosh. Is it just a good old party? :-)

    Thank you,
    Jason Whorton

There are LOTS of macs, most of them with Airport wireless connections and
    of course Bernie installed. B-{)

This year is the largest KFest in the 6 years I've been going with about
60 hardware, software, and regular geeks abounding. LOTS of bright folks
to talk to who share our interest in the Apple II.

Judging from the number of computers that Woz signed this afternoon, I'd
guess it was about even. I know I brought my Woz Limited Edition (some limit... Woz said 50,000 were made) to get double Woz'ed, as well as my daughters iBook so I could get online using the dorm's ethernet network.

BTW, Woz's keynote was excellent. Earlier, he indicated that he'd be
talking about an hour to an hour and a half, but he really got warmed up
and kept us at the edges of our seats for almost 2 and 1/2 hours! Very entertaining!

The cool thing is that now that he knows that the folks going to KFest
aren't a bunch of wierdo's, it just possible that he'll return next year. Business squeezed his time with us this year. I'm keeping my fingers
    crossed!

Of course, KFest isn't just about Woz. It's seeing Bill, and Jay and Todd
and Richard and Ryan and Tony and....

Poor Woz. Still, I think it's great that he is willing to rub elbows with
his fans. I always wondered what I would talk about if I ever had a chance
to just hang out with him. I mean, what questions could I ask that he hasn't already be asked a billion times? I would probably just say something along the lines of, "Thanks" and "It's great to finally meet you in person." Then,
I would buy him a coffee and ask him to sign an autograph.

Oh, I would ask him if he ever works on any of his Apple I systems anymore,
and if he would ever be interested in working on the Apple II Contiki port project?

He seemed to take it all in stride. He DID seem genuinely touched by the standing ovation at the end of his Keynote.

: to just hang out with him. I mean, what questions could I ask that he

He seems to be quite the storyteller, and certainly didn't appear to be
put off by such questions. Often they would launch him into a hilarious
    story. B-{)

    Then,
: I would buy him a coffee and ask him to sign an autograph.

I was sorta shy myself, even though we'd been emailing earlier. He
certainly accomidated the many requests for autographs at KFest very goodnaturedly. He's a genuine good person. B-{)

He did mention that he doesn't use his Apple II's anymore, but he
certainly hadn't forgotten anything about them when Tony Diaz started
pulling out prototype motherboards and such.

I guess you could email him concerning Contiki, but currently he's pressed
    for time.
