No, you're confusing them with the C64....

i remember months back when i made some innocent comment about the advances
of the spectrum, and amstrad and c64 all took shots at me. it was not flame bait but it was taken as such. they were completely unreasonable ( but then again so are many of you ) and took it as some attack because of prejudice
and didnt read what i wrote as it was written but how they perceived it to
be because everyone is always on the defensive because of these dumb insults going back and forth. not one of you came in to defend it was me alone vs. about 20-30 people. you all stayed on the side because you can't handle real argument. it's all childish quipping. I AM THE REAL MCCOY not backing down against an army while you stayed out of harm's way, yea im bold enough to
say it - most of you can't discuss anything reasonably and you let your
tempers flare over the most trivial fleeting comment, maybe if thats how i
had responded to all those stupid retorts some of you wouldve jumped in. and you're all to blame - cpc, c64 AND zx users.

Re: These flamewars are crap - discuss

theres nothing to discuss. your subject line sums it up.

Yeah, I have seen much better ones than the pissing contest that is
currently going on. It seriously lacks original insults that could give
    that
thread at least some entertainment value. Maybe it is becauses the speccy flamers are still struggling with a real keyboard. With a real keyboard I mean a keyboard with actual keys that doesn't require them to use 11
    fingers
    at once. :-)

I remember a few months (or a year or so) back when
some C64 commented about the advanceds of their
computer, turns out they were true! :-)

I'm not particular interested, but as long as you
can use these advances of the Spectrum that's all
    that really matters!

    Cheers,
    Ross.

exactly! i dont care what system it is, though in my case i happen to be interested in general in all systems ( okay, the speccy is my prefernce and
in the higher ends the amiga - oh, and the SAM :) and the cpc, c64, st right after. and i do own a c64 also - id like to get a cpc but the good ones 'guaranteed' to work with color monitor + manuals and a nice amount of interesting software to get started with go for way too much on ebay or are
UK only so it seems im stuck using emulators ) i also loo kfor more old
systems and just recently found out about the Tatung Einstein and it seems
very interesting to me i want to kno more about it ( some spectrum software
was written on it ). if we and others are coming up with new graphic modes, improving sound, making new hardware, pushing their systems, making new software, etc, i love to hear about it and more power to them. i think it's exciting and just because the now defunct Commodore, Sinclair, Amstrad
etc.dont produce these machines anymore ( although you might want to read
the thread at WOS about the C64 relaunch by Tulip computers - http://www.worldofspectrum.org/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=3278&forum=4&19 -- you may need to copy that and paste it in the address bar of your browser )
and there are no big software houses etc, doesnt me they ever died. the
amount of love and interest which can be seen for all these systems is proof theyre not dead. it never died. only difference is we now have to fend for ourselves and i think we are all doing a damn good job! ive been going
around practically spamming sites of all platforms to consider selling their software through www.cronosoft.co.uk if they want to sell them but dont
because theyre not sure howto go about it or think its a hassle, well now theres a way... they do all the work for you. some may not agree that its
right to sell software that it should be given away, and ive contributed
lots for free, sure thats fine and noble and all and i hope there will there will always be free stuff and sharing, but to breath the same life again
into these i think selling software, new software and even the old, is a
good idea. people appreciate more what they pay for ( and its not like the shits expensive - its dirt cheap but the quality if the software isnt ) and
it can create a market again, even if it's just a niche one, and has sparked curiosity in people even people who never heard of a spectrum, c64 or cpc.
look at amiga inc. difficulties and all aside they are doing good and
they're going for it, sure they are a larger company but the idea is the
same. ive gotten a few to jump on board and there will be some c64 titles
there soon, i hope the cpc crowd have some coders/artists/musicicans willing
to come on also. i think its great no matter what its for, and i try to
follow progress no matter what platform it's for because i find it all interesting. i was going to follow up my articles about the latest in the spectrum at Peek n' Poke from a few months ago with a similar thing for the
c64 but after all the nonsense i put up with a few months back it took the desire right out of me and i never did. thats all anybody will gain from all this idiocy, is contempt. i appreciate and enjoy all they have to offer. ive never started a c64 sucks or whatever war ever, i only get nasty when im personally attacked. this should stop. okay maybe its okay to be playful and all but it seems its always done with the intent to provoke others. its possible we could all help eachother and share information. it's pretty sad. after david and I finish Sid Spider on the Spectrum i plan a ST, Amiga, CPC, C64 version and maybe Sam Coupe cause i suppose it can be ported easily and then beefed up with the extra capabilities it has. it's all worthwile and
all have something special about them and lots to offer. but that's just me.

I don't go quite that far with systems, but generally I like the older
systems. If new technology came out for it, it's less interesting to someone like me who doesn't really have that system (than to someone who did, well I don't know about abusing someone about the advances of a system).

and i do own a c64 also - id like to get a cpc but the good ones

Amstrads are good when they come with a few blank discs (in case there's no 3.5" drive with it), generally it's nice to have a more widely available
disk available for it (it would also bump up the price). If however, you'd think you'd be using it more for the games it comes with, then that could
work. But remember, if any programming is to be done then some media storage
is required. If it's for CP/M, then you're restricted to disk! (no tape support!).

But I'd still like to think that some nice people still sell 3" discs! :-)
