Silly, you become a linguist. Everyone knows that. :-)
A lot of us end up in academia, doing research; some of us (me,
Larry Wall [who is also a linguist]) end up in computers. A very
few actually get commercial jobs doing AI and interface research,
which I've always been interested in, but not enough to actually
go out looking for those kind of positions.
