Do you have it? Or know where I can download the disk images?

I have the originals and converted them to .d64 images using Star
Commander. However, I could never get The Toy Shop to start under VICE.
It reverts back to the blue screen and a READY prompt a few seconds
after the "Welcome to The Toy Shop" message.

If you still want these images, feel free to send me an e-mail.

    Regards,
    Michael

Star Commander does not break copy protections, I hope you know that. Wasn't there a tool that could do it? MNIB? IIRC you need a parallel cable for
    that.

I do. I just copied all my CBM disks that would let themself be copied
early last year, using Star Commander and a XM1541 cable, and later
discovered that the Toy Shop disks were copy protected.

    Wasn't
there a tool that could do it? MNIB? IIRC you need a parallel cable for
    that.

And I don't have one and won't build one anytime soon, as most of my
copy protected originals are floating around on the internet somewhere
    in cracked or nibbled form.

    Michael

Mnib doesn't actually break copy protections, but rather keeps the whole
copy protected disk intact in the G64 image. Actually, mnib is able
to copy the Toy Shop (it will only run on the latest VICE version); unfortunately printing with VICE still doesn't work correctly with true
    drive emulation enabled :-(

    cheers,

Yeah, I just misexpressed it. Of course it doesn't break the protection (in
a sense of removing it), but it's powerful enough to convert a great lot of copy-protected games into d64 or g64.
And it has good and friendly user-support as well! =)

Sorry, what has printing to do with true drive emulation?

Hey Steppe and Markus, etc. !

I am wondering - will mnib or SC ever support writing .G64 images back to 1541 (or 1541-II) drive through a NORMAL XE1541 cable ? Is the parallel cable needed for Speed only or it is just not doable with XE1541 cable ?

I don't want to massacre my only 1541-II drive just to get a few .G64 images across one day :( I just know I will blow the drive if I attempt this :) call it
    a hunch.
